Duty station:  UNFPA-supported Women and Girls Safe Spaces in Aswan (Badr and/or Hay Nasser)

Background:

UNFPA Egypt has established 9 Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) to support women and girls of all nationalities. At present, 7 of these are operated by the Ministry of Youth and Sport (MoYS). UNFPA with implementing partners operates 7 WGSS across 6 governorates in Egypt strategically established in areas identified with dense refugee populations leveraging nationwide networks of MoYS Youth Centres. MoYS-operated WGSS are located in the following locations:

• Alexandria (1)
• Aswan (2)
• Cairo (1)
• Giza (2)
• Sharkiya (1)

The Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) model in Egypt provides essential services to refugee and host community women and girls, including gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), livelihoods and vocational training, and menstrual hygiene management. WGSS operates as key hubs for protection, empowerment, and inclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Psychologist will provide individual counselling and group sessions for GBV survivors as part of comprehensive GBV response services at WGSS.
• The Psychologist will support planning and delivering of various PSS activities in WGSS, which might include recreational activities, awareness-raising sessions, peer support activities, and etc.
• Work closely with the GBV Case Management team to identify, assess and develop PSS needs and action plans for GBV survivors.
• Adhere to strict data protection and information-sharing protocols to protect the privacy, confidentiality, and safety of survivors.
• Support documenting challenges and lessons learned from PSS activities and report to a team leader.
• Ensure survivor-centred approach to PSS activities at WGSS

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychological counseling (clinical psychology) and social work for vulnerable groups.
• Experience in GBV case management and/or psychosocial support for GBV survivors is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in both Arabic (mandatory) and English (desirable).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within different cultural environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of refugee and/or GBV response.
• Strong gender and cultural awareness and sensitivity.
